* 一見，複数形のように見える headquarters の前に a が付いている？


トルネード（竜巻）の進行動態を記すなかで，
ripped (おそらく過去形）がたくさんでてきた．

その１：
Recovery work began in Tsukuba on Monday after a tornado ripped through the city leaving a path of destruction in its wake.
* 個人的には path じゃなくて，swath という単語を使いたくなる．どっちでもいいだろうが．

その２：
Shortly afterward, he saw his office's roof ripped off by the wind and crash to the ground .....

その３：
In the Hojo district, which suffered more damage than other areas, the tornado ripped houses off their foundations and an entire warehouse was blown away.


ALC で調べると
.... 裂ける、破れる（その１，その２は自動詞）

.....～を引き裂く、破る、はぎ取る、はぐ、もぎ取る、切り取る（その３は他動詞）



竜巻の構造を表す schematic diagram の中に以下の文章．

素人だから，large difference of temp. と書きたくなる．
in temp. と "in" を使うのは言われてわかるものの， "of" としちゃうなぁ．
"gap" というキーワード出てきそうで，でてこない．
